Love is in the Air

Well..it's no surprise to any of you that Valentine's Day is coming. I'm pretty sure we all know that. Some of us are happy about that, while others choose to try to forget. But none of us can ever really forget. When I was little..Valentine's day meant decorating a pretty shoebox and getting Valentines from all the kids in my class. It was required that you give one to each student so as to not let anyone feel left out. That's a pretty good policy..because some kids are cruel and would make sure some little kid didn't get any Valentine's. No wonder so many people hate this holiday. Anyways..I even remember in 6th grade..keeping the Valentine one of the boys gave me because I liked him so much. *rolls eyes* It blew up in my face in 7th grade when some girls in my class told that boy. Oh..middle school..how I DON'T miss you. I don't even remember what it said that I thought it was sooo great..other than I think it was a toy story valentine and had the words Love, (his name inserted here). Sixth grade was the last time my whole class exchanged valentines..and I was sooo glad for that.

After that age though..Valentine's Day becomes more of a romantic thing. If you didn't have a boyfriend..that meant no candy, no flowers, no card and that meant a sucky day for you. I spent most of my Valentine's Days alone without a boy and usually spent it at home. Until 10th grade..when one of my guy friends who liked me asked me out. I didn't really like him like that. But it was a good time of going to eat out and getting icecream. I also got my first flower, a pink rose, that day. I think that's when I started to hate Valentine's Day less. I mean I spent the next three Valentine's Days alone..but it was almost a day for me to be nostalgic. A day for me to look forward to when I actually had someone to share it with. Plus, my parents are notorious for giving me little things for Valentine's which always softened the blow.

Also..in the last I don't know 2 years I guess..Love has been blooming everywhere. Now..I have two possible theories for this. One being that people are just getting more loving to each other..people are just pairing up like they usually do in the springtime, but will eventually break up and that it is nothing really serious, and it might just possibly be that I'm ignorant and didn't notice it before. My second theory is that I'm at that age now where everyone I know is getting engaged and married or even just dating seriously. I am pretty sure that is at least part of it..but my cousin got married last year at 38, my brother the year before that at 31, my sister in december at 29, my best friend at age 20..now I have to ask myself see..that doesnt really seem to have to do with me being a certain age where my friends are getting married..Because most of these people were old enough awhile ago. So is it something in the air? perhaps the water? The same water that is turning all pregnancies into little baby boys? The world may never know.

All of this to say is..my boyfriend is coming for Valentine's Day..and I'm extremely excited to spend it with him on my surprise date. =) But I can always commiserate and understand why sooo many people hate it. That 6th-9th grade version of me understands completely!

Laptop Help!!!

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone might be able to tell me what is wrong with my laptop/power cord/power jack/I don't know. A few weeks my power cord stopped working..but then I realized it would work if I taped it a certain angle on the computer. The internet seems to tell me that means it's a broken power jack.. But then today it won't charge at all and my AC Adaptor beeps at me. I ordered a new AC adaptor..but does anyone know what might be wrong with it? Or if lots of things are wrong with it. Please help if you know anything!!

It's been a long day..week..year..time..

It's been a long day
And all I've got to say is make it strong
It's been a long day
And all I've got to say is I've been wrong
So take a leave of absence
Tell me you'll be gone
I don't want to see your face
It's been a long day
And I just want to hide away
It's been a long week
And all the lines come down heavy on me
It's been a long week
I'm finally feeling like it's okay to break
into a thousand pieces
no one can replace
only I can find my way
It's been long day
And I just want to hideaway
It's been a long year
And everyone around me's disappeared
It's been a long year
And all this mess around me's finally cleared
So can I have a moment just to say hello
Can you let your anger go?
It's been a long year
And I'm finally ready to be here...

This song is sung by Rosi Golan..I first heard it on my favorite tv show...everyone should know what that is..no? fine. you fail. Anyways, it's One Tree Hill. I quickly grew to love it. I think it's because the words kind of ring true in my life. However- it's taken me more than a year to conquer my wanting to just hide and not be angry. That's why my title has time written on the end of it. I'm actually waiting to say the words "And I'm finally ready to be here." I think the reason I like this song so much is because it is the start of a new year..It's January..and if you know me..you know how much I really don't like January and February..I don't believe in luck or karma or any of that junk..but I must say January and February don't really have good track records for me. But this time every year I get contemplative..I reflect and I try to let the past just go and be the past..trying to be ready to be here..not necessarily here at school (although most days I'm still trying to adjust to that too even as a junior)..but more importantly I'm trying to be ready to be in this moment..right here..where I am..I think I have some more growing and healing to do before I can be ready..but I do really like this song..and you should go listen to it..it's on my myspace profile if you want to listen... www.myspace.com/stefjenny88

Texting..

Is it good or is it bad? It's both in my opinion. However, I find it to be mostly bad and slightly obnoxious. Let me tell you why I don't like it much and then the times where I think it is good. First of all, texting takes out the wonderfulness of an actual phone conversation. Instead of hearing someone's voice, you text an ENTIRE conversation. A five minute phone conversation becomes at least a 30 minute texting conversation. Ridiculous? I think so. Not to mention there is something nice about hearing someone's voice on the phone..especially my boyfriend or just talking to my mom about our day. Reason 2 I hate texting. Sometimes, I find that is rude and distracting. If someone in the movie theater is texting and I see their little light blinking or hear them clicking or hear the vibration..I get a little frustrated. It's okay if it is done once like maybe to tell someone they are in the movie..but seriously..the whole time? Why didnt you just bring that person along then??? Also, I think it's kind of annoying when you are trying to talk to someone and they are busy fiddling with their phone or texting someone..I had a friend like this once (we arent friends anymore for many reasons =( )..but when we would hang out I constantly felt like she would rather be talking to someone else. If you are hanging out with someone, dont text someone else the whole time. It's frustrating. Another example is this other friend of mine while we were on a trip to do mission work texted a majority of the time..making it really hard to talk or get to know them. Also, electronics were supposed to be used to a minimum. Also, texting your boyfriend or girlfriend all day long isnt romantic to me. 1) Talking on the phone and spending real quality time with each other seems betters and 2) It eventually leads to your being bored with one another b/c you've run out of things to talk about. Anyways, those are my reasons for not liking texting..I could probably keep going, but I won't.

The pros:
It's handy for when I am in class or somewhere else and have to ask someone a question and I obviously can't get on my phone right now. It's also nice if I just have one thing to say to someone such as "Had fun tonite..see you tomorrow" or something to that effect. It's also nice to get a text message in the middle of the day from my boyfriend that says "hope classes went well..love you." And there is also another pro..however, it is a pro which kind of makes us all pansies. It's when you really dont want to talk to someone- you are either afraid, don't like them, don't want to hear what they have to say, etc, etc. This is probably a bad thing- because we probably should call that person- but as a shy person and one who likes to go under the radar..I will count this as a blessing from time to time =) However, I still feel like texting is taking over the world.

Alright, so this will probably offend some people..but oh well..it's my blog and I can post my own thoughts right? School starts Tuesday. Bleck. Not even a little excited.

Let's Go People!

Alright, people. We need to make a deal. I will post more if you comment more. The last three posts I've got nothing. That means I have no incentive to write. You want to know about my life and my accident proneness? How about my paranoia which at times is actually valid..or maybe you prefer just to laugh at me. I'm comfortable with that. But we must write comments or else I feel like I'm writing to myself. And that is depressing.

So I came back from Kansas today. Flying just isnt what it used to be that is for sure. It's much less organized and more frustrating than it used to be. Pretty much every flight is guaranteed to be late which inevitably screws you over..like today. In a nutshell, I got up at 5:45am and rode in the car for 2.5 hours only to find out my flight had been delayed two hours which would cause me to miss my connecting flight in Atlanta. After an hour of waiting I was "rerouted" except then I had to check in somewhere else, where there was an abnormally long line. Apparently I had priority access meaning I could've skipped that line, but NO ONE told me that. So I waited. Thirty minutes later I get to security. "Finally, I'm free", I think to myself. I didnt really have time to tell my boyfriend goodbye..that was REALLY depressing. Then I find out that I've been chosen for a random search. Now those who know me know that one of my fears in life is not flying oh no..I got that down for the most part..I fear airport security. It makes me nervous. And here I am already late, no time to spare to get to my flight, and I have to take 15 minutes I dont have to get patted down and have my undies and personal belongings thrown up in the air. Grrness. But I made it..just barely. Ended up in the Dallas airport..which by the way is extremely confusing. I pretty much hated it. Got cheated by subway..needed to bust out the ruler. Apparently in the economic crisis 6 inch sandwiches went to 4 inches but they still tell people it's 6 inches..like math suddenly changed or something. But at least I'm at home in one piece. Hope everyone had a good New Year's. Write comments and tell me what you did. I was going to write about my topic piece which is about texting..but this seems long enough. Write comments or I'll beat you all up =)

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good break!

Well, we finally did it. The semester is over, and Christmas Break is here. YAY! It's a good feeling to know that I don't have to do school work until the middle of January. Don't you agree? *basks in that glow for a moment* *shakes body back to reality* Okay, so December was a busy month for me. My boyfriend came to visit me the first weekend of December and to go with me to my sister's wedding. My sister was married on the 6th and I was in my third and final wedding for the year. I'm a pro at being a bridesmaid. I'm starting to feel like the girl from 27 dresses. =) It was a lovely wedding and now the new married couple are staying with us for the holidays. Adam and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary on the 16th of this month. Well we tried to celebrate the best we could with finals and being away from each other. We celebrated a little bit early. He sent me the most beautiful roses which are sitting in the family room as we speak. =) Also, on Tuesday I will know if I'm going to have a nephew or a neice. I'm most excited to find out. I think it's going to be a little boy but we shall see. Also, on the 29th of this month I am flying out to Kansas to spend New Year's with Adam and his family. I'm pretty excited. It's only my 2nd time out there so I'm looking forward to it. hmm...am I missing anything? I'm not sure. I dont think so. Next time I'll try to write about my topic of interest piece.

Merry Christmas Everybody!!!
